Who are Samaritan’s Purse?
Samaritan’s Purse are a Christian organisation, headquartered in North Carolina. The organisation provide aid to help victims of war, poverty, natural disaster, disease, and famine across the globe. In recent months, a core focus for Samaritan’s Purse has been providing relief for Ukrainians trapped by the conflict. They are particularly experienced in crisis response and have an established network of over 3,200 church partners across Ukraine.
Samaritan’s Purse had a requirement for 1000 metric tonnes of rice, pasta and canned meat to be delivered to various locations within Ukraine, over a 6-week period (approximately 10 trucks per week). The organisation were looking to find a partner who was able to successfully source the required product and carry out the logistics operation to their warehouse locations within Ukraine. Once product was received at these locations, it would be distributed to where it was most needed through a network of local church groups.
Santé were able to utilize strategic partnerships with suppliers and freight forwarders across the UK & Europe to fulfil Samaritan’s Purse entire requirement. Our logistics team were able to transport the product across the border and throughout Ukraine to locations including Lviv, Vinnytsia and Dnipro. The teams were able to overcome shortages of available transportation, along with extreme border queues to deliver desperately needed product into dangerous combat areas. Working closely alongside Samaritan’s Purse, Santé set up daily calls to communicate and work through challenges in a constantly changing environment, providing updates on border crossing via boots on the ground in Poland.
Santé were able to successfully work with Samaritan’s Purse to execute a completely risk-mitigated, end-to-end solution for the supply of essential food product into Ukraine. All product was successfully delivered to the relevant locations and distributed across Ukraine through the Samaritan Purse network.
