Eco-friendly Packaging

Eco-friendly Packaging

There is an increasing awareness among consumers in some regions of the ill effects of plastic packaging on health, which has increased demand for eco-friendly products in the last few years. Eco-friendly food packaging is packaging made from sustainable, renewable, or often biodegradable materials, that do not cause any harm to the environment and safeguard the food they are packaging, making it safer for human consumption.

They often also need less energy to manufacture, as a side benefit but their main objective is to reduce the huge amount of plastic waste – 40% of plastic produced is food packaging.  Also, several governments have recently introduced regulations and bans on single use plastics, which is causing manufacturers to re-think their packaging products.

Eco-friendly packaging for food is a rapidly growing market, totaling USD 152.09 billion in 2019, and expecting to reach USD 257.43 billion by 2027. Even with the coronavirus epidemic, sustainable food packaging is looking at being a key industry shaping trend.  Hygiene and food safety will be key factors in the new normal and will be a high priority for across the food industry.

As we recover from the epidemic, green lifestyles will become more important than ever, both for the environment and our own health.  There have been many startup businesses working on eco-friendly or biodegradable packaging for food in the last few years, including Earth Check, Veg-fresh Farms, Offset Group, The Complete Package, all working on options for sustainable, custom-made and custom designed packaging.

Tetra Pak are also offering a connecting platform where users can trace the sources of their packaging and find advice on the best ways to recycle it.  Some small start-ups are creating packaging from biodegradable material such as sugar cane, corn starch and wood, although the main segment in 2019 was taken by paper and paperboard packaging – flexible and molded paper being used for fresh products, and rigid paperboard used for transportation, especially for bakery, confectionery and convenience foods.

Tradelink international Corp is committed to using eco-friendly packaging for their products wherever possible, having an organic and wellness ethos as the central goal of their business.  This means that you can be sure your products will be stored in the best possible method that you require, as well as being a quality product, for your consumers safety and for the sake of the environment.
