Some small start-ups are creating packaging from biodegradable material such as sugar cane, corn starch and wood, although the main segment in 2019 was taken by paper and paperboard packaging – flexible and molded paper being used for fresh products, and rigid paperboard used for transportation, especially for bakery, confectionery and convenience foods.
